Vocal Recording in Berlin

Depending on the genre, sing in our cozy vocal booth for a tight controlled sound, in our large, ambient room for bigger voices, or even in our stairwell with its gorgeous long reverberance. With our curated selection of mics and outboard gear and an engineer who keeps the vibe relaxed — singers of all genres come here to track in a setting that lets them do their best work.

VOCAL ROOMS

Different Tones to Record Your Vocals

Our vocal booth is cozy and intimate in tone — broadband absorption with a touch of diffusion, but with enough space to make long sessions confortable. For voices that want air around them — choirs, opera, and big voices — we open up the main room or even our highly ambient stairwell with its spectacular reverb.

A Curated Mic Locker, Chosen with Intent

We keep a focused selection rather than a long list — classic Neumann large-diaphragm condensers, a variety of tube classics for more flavor, ribbons for the warmth, and dynamic options when the voice is loud or the room is uncertain. Before any session we suggest a starting mic; whenever we have time, we always like to try a few other options.

  • Tube and FET large-diaphragm condensers as primary lead choices.
  • Ribbon options for warm, intimate or vintage-leaning takes.
  • Dynamic mics for loud rock vocals or noisier rooms.
  • Comparison shoot-outs encouraged at the start of a project.

How we work

Patience & Care for Vocals

Vocal sessions need patience and immense concentration — vocals are physical and emotional and the smallest of nuances can be very important. We keep the talkback constructive, the lighting soft and the clock invisible. Comps and tuning are handled afterwards; in the room itself, the focus is on getting full performances that the singer is happy to listen back to.

  • Pre-production call: keys, references, mic preferences, vibe.
  • Quiet setup, warm headphone mix, comfortable booth lighting.
  • Full passes preferred; line-by-line punching when it serves the take.
  • Comping, tuning and editing handled in post — clean stems delivered.

Fantastic, peaceful location to record with high quality instruments & equipment. Robert is a highly skilled professional in every sense with audio, but also a very friendly & accommodating person. He has the unique ability to get the best out of the artist & do a great service to the music. Thanks so much for your fabulous work on my single, Rob! It is much appreciated!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I track vocals live with the band?

Yes, and we encourage it when the performance lifts with the band. The isolation booth keeps bleed manageable; usually only a handful of phrases get re-cut afterwards, not the whole take.

How do you handle tuning and comping?

Comping happens in post from labelled takes, with the singer involved if they want to be. Tuning is done with care — manual where it matters, subtle where it doesn't, and not at all when the song asks for raw.

Do you record vocal ensembles and choirs?

Yes — small ensembles in the main room, larger choirs on location in a hall or church. See our classical on-location service for the mobile rig.

Is there a producer or vocal coach on hand?

We work with a small circle of producers and vocal coaches who can be booked alongside the session if you want a second pair of ears in the room.

Let's plan a session together.
